On Saturday 14 June 2014, inspired innovators and social entrepreneurs came together in Hampton Roads to share new ideas and breed innovative culture.
If you have ever been interested in actively taking deliberate steps to bring about positive change to your organization, city, or country, then DEF[x] Hampton Roads was for you!
The Defense Entrepreneurs Forum (DEF) was inaugurated in Chicago last October, where innovation bred through cross-pollination and ad-hoc networking. DEF[x] Hampton Roads continued the mission of innovation by hosting a regional conference for the Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina region.
On 14 June 2014, social entrepreneurs and government innovators came together to challenge the status quo and inspire innovative solutions.
DEF is unique among defense conferences in that it focuses on the junior and emerging leaders, giving them a voice and the opportunity to network with established professionals. Bringing together professionals and students provided for a dynamic mix of talent, ideas, and passion.
DEF[x] Hampton roads was a combination between a TEDx-like forum and a Start-Up weekend that provided an opportunity to present ideas to peers and professionals while receiving real-time feedback and growing your support network.
By allowing collaboration between emerging leaders in both the government branches and private industry, we forged new connections and shared ideas to generate new and innovative solutions.
This one-day event will featured a series of dynamic speakers, interactive panelist discussions, breakout groups focused on the Design Thinking method, and a post-conference social at one of Norfolk's many fine downtown establishments. We truly hope that you will join us next time to breed greater innovation in the government and private sector.
