Lt. Gen. David W. Barno, USA (Ret.) is a Distinguished Practitioner in Residence at the School of International Service at American University and a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brent Scowcroft Center at the Atlantic Council. He was senior American commander of U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan from 2003ñ2005. Barno was a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security. He has published extensively and testified before Congress numerous times.

Daniel Chiu is the Director of Strategy at the Atlantic Council and Deputy Director of the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security. He previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy. He is also an Adjunct Professor of International Relations and Public Policy and speaker at events around the world including presentations in Amman, Berlin, Brussels, Canberra, Geneva, Islamabad, Jakarta, London, Moscow, New Delhi, Ottawa, Seoul, Taipei, and Tokyo as well as across the United States.

Joshua Marcuse serves as the Executive Director of the Defense Innovation Board. Previously, he worked at Booz Allen Hamilton and at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also the founder and chairman of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, and a fellow of the Truman National Security Project. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and is certified in change management from Georgetown University's Business School.

Dr. Erin M. Simpson is a leading specialist in identifying data and research requirements for complex environments. She has lectured at the Joint Special Operations University, Defense Intelligence Agency, MITís Lincoln Labs, Google Ideas, Georgetown, and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Simpson also served as the Strategic Advisor to ISAFís Counterinsurgency Advisory and Assistance Team. VA. Dr. Simpson holds a PhD in Political Science from Harvard University and a BA in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Kansas.
