We will start with an overview of DEF, followed by words about internally-driven innovation from our guest speaker, Brian Elms, with ample time for Q&A and networking afterwards. With 15+ years of experience providing policy and program management expertise to government agencies and nonprofits, Brian Elms is the author of Peak Performance: How Denver’s Peak Academy is Saving Money, Boosting Morale, and Just Maybe Changing the World. He is the former the Director of Peak Academy and Analytics for the City and County of Denver where he developed training and consulting services that focused on employee-led performance management and continuous improvement. Since its inception in 2012, Peak Academy initiatives have saved Denvermore than $25 million. Currently, Brian works at the Change & Innovation Agency focused on creating employee-driven innovation programs around the country.
The Defense Entrepreneurs Forum (DEF) exists to promote a culture of innovation in the national security community. The mission of DEF is to “Inspire – Connect – Empower” and involves not only monthly gatherings around the world, but periodic DEFx events in different regions, a national conference each year, and ongoing collaboration via Slack, Facebook and LinkedIn. Our national programs include fellowship opportunties, writing initiativies and an internal think tank in which all members are welcome to participate. Drink & Think events are a foundational way of connecting the national security innovation community.
