DEFx Events
Our first DEFx events of 2017 are just around the corner. DEFxDC: The Future Fights will be May 12 at the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies. The conference will apply lessons from business and entrepreneurial communities to help figure out how the U.S. defense community can ensure it has the right people, the bet technology, and the processes in place to face an uncertain future. Check out the event website for more information.

DEFxAtlanta promises to be an exciting event. A product of a partnership between DEF, Georgia Tech Research Institute, and Army Cyber Command, the event will run June 1-3. After beginning with a happy hour Thursday June 1, DEFxAtlanta will continue Friday with the option to attend a Hackathon track or a conference track that will tentatively address talent management, offensive operations and law of cyber conflict, how to incorporate DoD initiatives at the ground level, and how to visualize multi-domain battle. Check out the event website for more information.

Crowdfunding Campaign

We’re ten days into our 30 day crowdfunding campaign. So far we’ve raised 28% of $20,000 goal! Your contributions help pay for the DEF events described above, and will open up opportunities for DEF to reach new audiences, foster new ideas and projects, and sponsor innovators as part of our effort to create a culture of innovation in the national security community. Still on the fence about donating? We’re also offering some very cool DEF swag, like lapel pins, notebooks, and discounts to DEF events. Check out our Indiegogo page for more details.

Other Opportunities
The Center for Security Studies and Hacking 4 Defense are meeting April 3 to discuss the increasing velocity and complexity of America’s national security challenges and what the security community can do in response. Panelists include General Paul Selva, Andrew Hallman, Milo Medin, Soraya Correa, and Dr. Erin Simpson. Check out their Eventbrite for more details and to RSVP.

The DC Agora is holding its next happy hour April 11!
